# Anonymize Members

**Anonymizing members deletes all of that member's identifying information from Inveterate, but retains their purchase data to keep reporting intact.**

{% hint style="warning" %}
You must [cancel a membership](broken://pages/FxRR0QH5CIAKY2gHsy9p) before you can anonymize them. You cannot anonymize an active member.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Pro Tip: If you receive a Personal Data Deletion Request from a customer, all you need to do is Anonymize them in Inveterate. This will fulfill their request instantly.
{% endhint %}

#### To anonymize a member:

1. Find the member who you want to anonymize.
2. Click the 'Anonymize' button on the top right.
3. Click 'Anonymize' in the new pop-up to confirm that you want to anonymize this member's subscription.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.inveterate.com/help-center/guides/members/member-profile/anonymize-members.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
